District Governor 5NE 2010 - 2011

Lion Governor Robert S. Littlefield was born in Moorhead, MN, in 1952. He graduated from Fargo North High School in 1970; and received his teaching degree in English, Speech, and Theatre from Minnesota State University Moorhead in 1974. That fall began his teaching career at the Barnesville (MN) Public Schools. He joined the North Dakota State University teaching staff in 1979; and in 1983, completed his doctorate at the University of MN. Over his 30+ years at NDSU, he has filled several administrative and leadership roles; and currently he is a professor in the communication department.

In 1984, Littlefield was introduced to Lionism by PDG Frederick G Walsh. He served two terms as president of the Fargo Lions: 1990-91 and 2005-06. Robert’s feelings for his club and those with whom he has served run deep. His enthusiasm and positive outlook have helped to motivate his fellow Lions to exceed their club goals, whether through fundraising or service projects. The Fargo Lions Club twice honored Robert as its Lion of the Year and presented him in 2005 with a Melvin Jones Fellow Award. Through Campaign SightFirst II, he gained his first MJF Progressive Recognition in 2009. Robert has received eight awards from four international presidents. He has attended five international conventions, two USA/Canada Forums, and the Great Plains Lions Leadership Institute.

Lion Robert and his wife Kathy have been married for 36 years and have two grown children: a married daughter, Lindsay (Thomas Allen), who is an analyst for the Texas Legislative Budget Board; and a son, Brady who is an account executive for Rubenstein Communication, Inc. in New York City. They have one grandson, Emmett Allen.
