Carrington Lion Doug Roundy and DG Duane Zwinger

It seems DG Duane was given a stuffed bear while on the streets of Carrington from the Bowden Lions. The bear is a symbol to encourage Lion Club visitations. The bear must be delivered by at least two lion members to a Lions Club at least 5 miles away. There is a $5.00 fee charged for each day the club keeps the bear. Duane & Mary Ann transported the bear to the Jamestown Lions. Once you have had the bear… you cannot get again. A log of clubs who have had the bear and the fine accompanies the bear. ALL PROCEEDS FROM THIS PROJECT TO THE ND LIONS FOUNDATION.

"Melvin Jones" award at their December meeting in Carrington.

What is a Melvin Jones Fellowship?
The Melvin Jones Fellowship is recognition of a commitment to humanitarian work. (It is not an award in the tradition of Lions awards presented for specific accomplishments.) The fellowship is an honor given to individuals who contribute the equivalent of US$1,000 to LCIF, and persons for whom such donations are made by others. The fellowship is the foundation's highest honor and represents humanitarian qualities such as generosity, compassion, and concern for the less fortunate. Melvin Jones Fellows receive a lapel pin and a personalized wall plaque in honor of their commitment to helping others.
